Workshop N°3 organised at the 22nd A3P Congress, October 20th, 21st and 22nd, 2009
Environmental impacts associated with the biopharmaceutical production have become an unavoidable issue for most laboratories take the path of industrial excellence and wishes to promote positive values to their customers.
Introducing the workshop, general information present how the concept of sustainable development can be compatible with industrial logic. The subject will deal more specifically with packaging and show how the methods of eco-design and production can optimize the life cycle of a product.
Following the workshop will be the solution-oriented treatment of industrial waste liquids and solids. A review of the regulations in force and the channels of reprocessing will be presented and an example of a strategy of internal management of waste.
The workshop will continue in the form of interactive working groups moderated by Thomas Bijou (E.F.C Solutions Packaging) et Sébastien Leyendecker (Millipore).
Based on a process of formulation and aseptic filling Classic, participants will establish an environmental assessment taking into account the solid and liquid waste generated, fluids and energy necessary. They compare more particularly a conventional stainless steel sterilized with steam up and integrating a single-use technology. They will do a comparative study of waste streams entering and leaving and they will think of realistic ways of improvement to make the process sustainable advantage.
In conclusion, a synthesis of different groups of work will be presented and discussed so that everyone can appreciate the benefits it can withdraw from the implementation of a sustainable approach in its preparation.
